The two-sided backgrounds are a nice touch—we flipped to the space station interior and the kids immediately started sorting the astronauts by their little toolkits. The pieces stayed put on the car ride home, which was the real test.
My nephew pulled this out during a road trip and the 50+ pieces kept him busy for over an hour, which never happens. The two-sided backgrounds give him a reason to redo the whole scene, and the pieces stay put on the board pretty well.
The magnetic pieces stay put nicely on the glossy backgrounds, so my kid can build a space station scene without everything sliding around. We've taken it on two car trips already and the sturdy case keeps all 50+ pieces from spilling out, which is a win for me.
